1. Introduction

Welcome to the Bradfield Literature Festival (“we”, “our”, “us”). These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website, ticket purchases, event attendance, and participation in any activities organized by the Bradfield Literature Festival.

By accessing our website, purchasing tickets, or attending any event, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our website or services.


2. Definitions

  • “Festival” means the Bradfield Literature Festival.

  • “Event” means any talk, panel, workshop, performance, or activity organized by the Festival.
  • “Ticket” means a purchased admission to an Event.
  • “Attendee” means any person who purchases a Ticket or attends an Event.
  • “Venue” means the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford, or any other location where Events are held.
  • “Organizers” means the Bradfield Literature Festival team and its authorized representatives.

3. Ticket Purchase and Payment

3.1 Ticket Prices

All ticket prices are listed in Euros (€) and are inclusive of applicable taxes. Prices are subject to change without prior notice, but confirmed tickets will be honored at the price paid.

3.2 Payment

Payment must be made in full at the time of booking. We accept:

  • Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  • PayPal
  • Bank transfers (for group bookings only)

3.3 Confirmation

Upon successful payment, you will receive a confirmation email with your ticket details. Please keep this email safe and bring it (digital or printed) to the Event.

3.4 Booking Fee

A small booking fee may apply to all ticket purchases. This fee will be clearly displayed before checkout.


4. Ticket Refunds and Exchanges

4.1 Refund Policy

  • Refund requests must be submitted at least 7 days before the Event date.
  • Refunds are processed within 14 business days after approval.
  • A 10% administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds.
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method.

4.2 Late Cancellations

Refund requests made less than 7 days before the Event will not be accepted, except in the case of:

  • Medical emergencies (documentation required)
  • Death of an immediate family member (documentation required)
  • Legal obligations (such as jury duty)

4.3 Ticket Exchanges

If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your ticket to another person by notifying us at least 48 hours before the Event. The new attendee’s name and contact details must be provided.

4.4 Event Cancellation or Changes

If the Festival cancels an Event:

  • You will receive a full refund of the ticket price (including booking fees).
  • If the Event is rescheduled, your ticket will be valid for the new date, or you may request a refund.

5. Event Attendance

5.1 Admission

  • Tickets must be presented at the entrance (digital or printed).
  • Latecomers may be seated at the discretion of the Organizers.
  • The Organizers reserve the right to refuse admission for reasons including, but not limited to, aggressive or disruptive behavior.

5.2 Age Restrictions

  • Children under 12 years attend for free with a paying adult.
  • Children under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Proof of age may be required for student or child tickets.

5.3 Health and Safety

  • All Attendees must comply with venue safety instructions.
  • The Organizers reserve the right to deny entry to anyone showing symptoms of contagious illness.
  • First aid facilities are available on-site.

5.4 Seating Arrangements

  • Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis unless otherwise specified.
  • For wheelchair accessible seating, please contact us in advance.

6. Conduct and Behavior

6.1 Attendee Responsibilities

All Attendees must:

  • Respect other Attendees, speakers, and staff.
  • Follow all instructions from Festival staff and venue security.
  • Refrain from disruptive or offensive behavior.
  • Not disrupt the Event or any speaker.

6.2 Prohibited Items

The following items are not permitted inside the Venue:

  • Weapons of any kind
  • Alcohol and illegal substances
  • Fireworks or flammable materials
  • Professional cameras or recording equipment (without prior permission)
  • Large bags or luggage

6.3 Removal Policy

The Organizers reserve the right to remove any Attendee who:

  • Violates these Terms and Conditions.
  • Behaves in an aggressive, disruptive, or dangerous manner.
  • Refuses to follow security or staff instructions.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Festival Content

All content on the Festival website, including text, images, logos, videos, and designs, is the property of the Bradfield Literature Festival or its licensors and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.

7.2 Use of Content

You may not:

  • Reproduce, distribute, or modify any content without prior written permission.
  • Use any content for commercial purposes without express authorization.
  • Remove or alter any copyright notices.

7.3 Event Recordings

  • Recordings of Events (audio, video, or photography) are not permitted without prior written consent.
  • The Festival may record Events for promotional purposes. By attending, you consent to being filmed or photographed. If you do not wish to be captured, please inform the organizers.

8. Photography and Recording

8.1 Attendee Photography

  • Photography is permitted for personal use only.
  • Flash photography is strictly prohibited.
  • Professional photography or video recording requires prior approval.

8.2 Festival Photography

The Festival may take photographs and videos during Events. These may be used for:

  • Marketing and promotional materials
  • Social media content
  • Festival archives

8.3 Opt-Out

If you do not wish to appear in Festival photography or video, please notify us in writing at info@bradfieldliteraturefestival.com at least 24 hours before the Event.


9. Limitation of Liability

9.1 General

  • The Festival is not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury to Attendees or their property.
  • Attendees participate in Events at their own risk.
  • The Organizers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

9.2 Force Majeure

The Festival shall not be liable for any failure to perform its obligations due to events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters
  • Acts of terrorism or war
  • Government regulations
  • Strikes or labor disputes
  • Pandemic or public health emergencies

In such cases, the Festival will make reasonable efforts to reschedule or offer refunds.


10. Personal Belongings

  • Attendees are responsible for their own personal belongings.
  • The Festival and Venue are not liable for any lost, stolen, or damaged property.
  • Left items will be held at the Venue’s lost and found for 14 days.

The Festival website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of these third-party sites.


12. Data Protection and Privacy

Your personal information is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is available on our website. By purchasing tickets, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Kingdom.
